What about RS422 ports in a DTC 48 or RS423 ports in a DTC72MX?
Not sure about RS423 cable lengths, but I can remember that RS422
in a DTC48 supported up to a 1000m. Mileage will vary!
Most of the HP printers with serial ports support RS422, so
does the 700/9x terminals.
