We are currently running on MPE 5.5 using Turbo Image Databases. For the
past 4 months, we have been experiencing root file corruption. The
corruption happens at random on different databases. When the corruption
occurs, our users using a COBOL based MENU system can still access the
corrupt databases and even update them. We can also use Query to
access and add/update records. However, when any SuperTool job (extraction
utility from Robelle) runs, it aborts. Also, DBUTIL reports errors and also
Adager. HP has been working on the problem and has verified that the root
file is indeed corrupt. What is causing the corruption and is a mystery.
It happens when no database work/ modifications have occurred and when only
users and batch jobs are running. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thank
you.
I will give you the exact errors below from each utility:

Database [NO MORE] ? COMPDB
This database is enabled for Omnidex Third-Party Indexing (TPI).
=====================================================================
As part of their agreement with HP, TPI products must provide a procedure
(TpiMaint) that database restructuring tools should use for index synchrony.
Adager invokes TpiMaint by default. If you want to MANUALLY run Omnidex's
OmniUtil to re-index affected datasets, you can override my default by
issuing
(before you run Adager) the MPE/iX command ":SetJCW ForbidTpiMaint 1".
=====================================================================
Adager is incrementally providing support for TPI. This version includes
support for COPYING databases, for RENAMING databases, and for REPACKING
detail
datasets.
Non-supported root level: 0 (%000000)
We have now closed the database.
