I went the opposite direction, started with St. Paul and tried EDI Windows.
I hated EDITran when I first used it, and for a long time thereafter, but
the fact that it wasn't integrated was actually a good thing for me because
I needed to insert custom processes into their flow. I found EDI Windows
to be totally unusaable because I had gotten so use to EDITran. So based
on what you said, and what I said, it seems they are both usuable, but it's
a training issue.

Did they ever finish their Windows based mapper? That was supposed to be
done 3 years ago.

Subject: St. Paul Software and HP3000

Our company just bought EDI translation software from St. Paul Software,
called EDItran version 6. We also use Telamon network engine and Network/S
product for the RJE linkage.

I was wondering if anyone else is using this software, and what their
thoughts are on it. Any help on the use of this package would be greatly
appreciated.

We bought the package for their Y2k compliancy, and because they have other
packages that run on relational databases. We're migrating from Trinary's
EDI Windows package, and I never knew how good their package was until I
starting using St. Paul's software.

EDI Windows is a totally integrated package, which includes everything from
communications to scheduling to mapping in one user interface. However, St.
Paul's package is broken out into separate stream jobs for each step of the
process. It's been hard to understand how all of the pieces fit together.

They do have a good package, it's just been hard for me move away from an
integrated environment.

If you want to, you can send email to me at my address shown below, instead
of sending to the entire list.

Thanks,

Jim.
