Challenging question.

Security/3000 is kind of like mainframe RACF or Top Secret. MPEX's STREAMX /
scheduling facility is something like mainframe Control M, maybe UNIX cron,
and better than NT's AT (which requires you to get its security right,
instead of allowing you to cross normal boundaries without compromising
security). MPEX itself is kind of like the NT Resource Kit, which gives OS
extensions among other things. VeAudit is like knowing what you're doing
with NT security and actually using the NT logs...

But that's not much more than saying that MPEX are utilities to extend the
functionality of the OS, SECURITY/3000 is a good third-party security
package, and VeAudit automates security auditing and log reporting and
offers some admin features. One important difference is that HP seems
content NOT to compete with its own third-party developers, unlike certain
other companies... HTH.
