I've seen more than one confusing problem concerning users not
being able to connect to an HP3000 that is solved merely by going
into NMMGR and doing a VALIDATE, even if you don't change
anything.
For example, at one site we installed PowerPatch 6, and followed
the instructions which specifically said that we did not need to
VALIDATE in NMMGR. Then the six new PC's could not get a
prompt. Doing the VALIDATE in NMMGR was the only thing we
did, and then everything was fine.
Another site has a user license of 32, but the maximum number of
jobs and sessions allowed kept decreasing. Once again, the
VALIDATE with no change fixed the problem.
I don't know the explanation, but the VALIDATE is a quick and
easy thing to try.
