While I originally intended to reply on the subject of API's,
I'll just mention a funny little story that happend to me today:

A customer, who picked up my name/email in the Samba survey at
the www.samba.org web site, contacted me to ask me why HP would
not offer Samba support like, for example, SGI does (as he told
me)...

Poor soul. I had the sad task to slightly correct his question
or statement, by making him aware of www.hp.com/go/3000 and the
fact that HP *does* provide Samba, bundled with MPE/iX 6.0 and
also includes Response Center support at no additional charge.

Why poor soul? Why sad task? Well, he was asking in regard to
the HP-UX operating system that he is using. I don't even know
if he ever heard about that "proprietary", "old fashioned",
"non-open" HP 3000 and its "legacy" MPE/iX operating system,
as I haven't heard back from him before I left the office...

Lars (that man definitely made my day ;-)
