CD-rom on mpe/ix 5.5

Couple of days ago we received a hp3000/987 but we can't find out how
to work with the cd-rom.
The device is made and when we start the system with a cd in the
cd-rom it is mounted as a loner.
What should we do to get this device properly mounted and how can we
read cd's ?
